Thing 19

My Web 2.0 award goes to Flickr... While working in the lab I see many patrons of all ages enjoy the services Flickr has to offer. Many parents get emails for their kids in college with a link to Flickr so they can see photos of what they are doing or of places they have been to. Just seeing the smiles on their faces shows the impact that Flickr has brought to the internet.

This was such a wonderful training. I really learned so much wonderful tools and information from this training. It was a lot of hard work and dedication, but I finally completed my training. It was just a miracle to find time to sit here in the computer lab and work on my training. But I hope there will be more fun and interesting trainings in the future.

Thing 29

I can say I finally made it!! Yes....only one more blog to finish and I have completed all 30 things. I would have to say that I have truly learned so much from this training and had fun completeing it. The only difficulties that I had faced during this trainig was trying to find time in the computer lab to sit here and work on my Web 2.0!!

Pro's

  • Using image generators.
  • Learning how to upload videos to a blogger account.
  • And in general learning about new and interesting sites

Con's

  • Dead links
  • Blocks by the Internet filtering

I would have to say that Web 2.0 was a really wonderful training, because it had exposed me to new and interesting websites.

In general, I would have to say that podcasting is great. It is definitely something cool that you can download to your MP3 player. I am sure that there are several search engine available to locate podcasts. But, I was not able to access two out of the three sites due the the filtering on the staff computers.

The only one that I could access was Yahoo...and this website works just like a regular search enging. Also, Yahoo did not have any overwhelming features.

It is just so amazing to seen how much technology has changed over the years. We use to have to have to go to the library and spend hours finding our information by searching tons and tons of books. Well...now you can find almost anything on the Internet.
I thought that Technorati was a very interesting site. I like the way it tags each of the articles by subject. By it being tag it makes it much easier for people to find it when they do a search.

What are tags?

Tags are one-word descriptors that you can assign to your bookmarks on del.icio.us. They're a little bit like keywords but non-hierarchical. You can assign as many tags to a bookmark as you like and easily rename or delete them later. Tagging can be a lot easier and more flexible than fitting your information into preconceived categories or folders.
